Ayurvedic Detox

Ayurveda was originated in India and is known to be one of the oldest medical sciences. It is more than merely a healing system. It is in fact, a science that can teach us a holistic way of living to achieve longevity.

Ayurveda has a system based on subtle bio-energies called Doshas– Vata, Pitta & Kapha (VPK), to uniquely define every individual’s constitutional make-up. It can guide every individual in making a proper choice of diet as well as living habits and exercises to restore balance in the body, mind & consciousness. By implementing a few simple practices, we can help ourselves in preventing several diseases & illnesses. Ayurvedic detox (internal cleansing) is one of these practices, which is very popular and effective.

How does Ayurvedic detox work?

As per Ayurveda, each of us have our own unique balance of Vata, Pitta and Kapha according to our own nature and body type. This balance of VPK is our body’s natural order that keeps us going mostly without any troubles.

In our daily lives, our fine internal balance is constantly subjected to many external factors. Some of these include:

  • The wrong diet and lifestyle
  • Seasonal and climatic changes
  • Fatigue and stress
  • Environmental toxins

All these factors have a varying degree of impact on our internal balance and cause disturbances to it. In Ayurveda we call this phenomenon as – Doshic Imbalance, which leads to an internal disorder.

So, in an Ayurvedic view – health is order and disease is disorder. By keeping our Doshas in order we can keep ourselves free from diseases and lead a healthier life.

One of the most important ways to keep our internal balance in order is by not letting any toxins build up in our system and that’s where an Ayurvedic Detox comes in.

At Shri Asha, we recommend short home detox, which is an excellent scientific way to cleanse and reboot the whole body. Designed to enhance the body’s natural ability to heal and repair.

Home Based Short Detox:

As the name suggests, this detox can be carried out at your home as per your convenience. It is a great plan that is very effective and can be easily done along with your work and daily life.

This detox is designed to reset the body’s natural ability to repair the gut flora and improve digestive mechanism. A better digestive system enhances the body’s natural ability to eliminate toxins. This detox has also proved to be very efficient in weight loss by inducing fat metabolism.

Why a HomeBased Short Detox could be a good option for you:

  • If you are aiming to feel lighter after a period of continuous unhealthy eating (for example – After a festive season or holidays)
  • If You are looking to take a small break from your usual exercise & high protein routine or you want to feel more calm, peaceful and rejuvenated
  • If you have extra weight accumulation around the hips and belly
  • If you experience sluggish bowel movements
  • If you bloat/ belch after meals
  • Have very dry/ itchy skin
  • Suffer from aches and pains of unknown reasons
  • Get Brain fog

What does an Ayurvedic short detox involve:

We divide the short detox into 4 steps:

Step One Consultation: An Ayurvedic consultation (can be done remotely over the phone) where we will:

  • Provide you with a detailed explanation of the plan with a complete dietary protocol, recipes & grocery lists
  • Plan a herbal protocol based on your current imbalances and your specific health needs. We aim to maximise the benefits from the detox with a few herbal food supplements. We will mainly prescribe herbs focusing on mobilising the stagnant lymph, pulling toxins to the gut and packaging them for a safe elimination.
  • Plan specific yoga and breathing practices specially designed for you based on your current doshic imbalance.
  • Provide you a pack of herbs recommended during consultation.

(We would always be in touch with you during the whole detox to assist with any queries, recipes etc.)

Step Two Pre-detox phase: The pre-detox phase lasts for 3 days, during which:

  • You will need to take herbal food supplements as advised by the practitioners. These herbs will help you kindle the digestive fire and promote lymphatic circulation. All these herbs are excellent prebiotics and prepare the gut for the next step – the actual detox phase.
  • You will need to switch to a balanced vegetarian diet based on red and green vegetables which have properties to mobilise lymph and loosen up any stagnation of accumulated toxins.

Step Three Detox Phase: After the pre-detox phase, you are now completely ready for the detox. This phase lasts for 4 days.

During this phase you will be

  • Taking prescribed herbal supplements
  • Drinking prescribed dosage of herb infused ghee every morning
  • On a special hydration protocol
  • Eating extremely healing and rejuvenating vegetarian meals
  • Doing self-body massage with prescribed herbal oil
  • Taking gentle, natural laxative on fourth day of detox

During this phase your metabolism is reset and a significant amount of toxins are flushed out of your system. Every little detail will be shared with you during phase one.

Step  Four– Post-detox phase: This phase is equally as important as the previous ones and lasts for 3 days. During this time period the dietary and herbal protocol will be the same as the pre-detox phase. As you can imagine, by now your gut has been re-booted and ready to support you in your daily lifestyle better. However, we just need to take one final step – the recolonising probiotic regimen. This includes replenishing your gut flora that has just been scrubbed during detox phase.

ShriAsha’s home based detox is an excellent way to reboot and strengthen thedigestive system and can be done four to six times a year. It is a very effective natural process to support the intestinal lining and microbiome, decongest the lymphatic system and reset the body’s natural ability to detoxify itself.
